The Most Important Thing

The Most Important Thing……….

As much as I enjoy training dogs and going duck hunting, those things pale in comparison to the most important thing in my life.  I am a Christian; and by that I mean that I have been saved by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I am far from perfect, I say things I shouldn’t say, do things I shouldn’t do, desire things that I shouldn’t desire and the Bible calls those things sin.  Unfortunately, we are all sinners.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The problem is that because of my sin I am separated from God, who is perfect and holy.  The penalty for my sin is death and eternity in hell away from God.  Fortunately for us, God loves us and wants to have a relationship with us, so to pay the penalty for our sin, He sent his Son Jesus Christ; who lived a perfect life that we could not, and died on the cross to pay the debt of our sin.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, believing in that, I have surrendered my life to Him.  My life is not about me, it is about glorifying God in everything that I do.

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Fortunately for me, God can use my marriage, my relationships with family and friends, my abilities, cowboy church youth ministry, horses, camps, rodeos, dog training, duck hunting and every other aspect of my life to bring Him glory……and that is exciting!

Being a Christian does not make me perfect; I fail everyday to be the man that God has called me to be.  But I have joy knowing that God is working in my life to make an impact on eternity.  My life is not easy and don’t expect it to ever be easy, but God has been and will continue to be with me throughout my life until I get to go spend eternity with Him.

I know that a Dog Training Website is not a normal way to talk about Jesus, but I felt led to add this section to The Retriever  If you are in a spot where you would like to talk about God and His plans, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I would love to talk with you about Duck Hunting Dogs, but I would much rather talk to you about Jesus Christ and what He has done and is continuing to do for eternity.  Again, please let me know if I can talk with you or pray for you about anything in your life.

In Him,

Travis Wright
